I can’t believe a country like Britain couldn’t afford to keep them surly not that desperate. Now America owns all our Great British shipping lines . I always remember the bit where he says they couldn’t sacrifice the QE2 as she held the name of the sovereign at the time, but sacrificing the ‘Canberra’ as she ‘was only named after the capital of Australia’ was pretty damn disrespectful and a pure slap in the face. Interesting that the ‘Canberra’ went straight in dropping the troops close while the QE2 held back. Says a lot really about the British aristocracy and their outdated viewpoints. Just revisiting this after finishing a sailing on Cunard’s ‘Queen Elizabeth’ which was just fantastic. Now looking to book transatlantic on ‘Queen Mary 2’….
